| Pyhävuori
In Kristiinankaupunki, at a distance of 6 km from the highway 8, between Vaasa
and Pori, is situated Pyhävuori - the highest point
of the Ostrobothnian. The unique terrain is an exciting area for
excursions, a resort for nature worshippers, hikers, skiers, keep-fit
enthusiasts, historians, botanists, pickers of mushrooms and berries...
For all those who care about their body and mind. You can also go on a
guided tour in the terrain. The ski resort of Pyhävuori is
also the starting point of the hikes. The
Saunanseinämä route is 3.6 km and Susireitti 8.5 km.
The varying terrain is fit for training of many kinds of sport both in
summer and in winter.
The varying nature
The stone fields from the Ice Age, the cliff walls, the biggest cave in
Finland, the rock formations, the groves and the moors make a unique
area with an abundant vegetation, among others the protected Clematis
Sibirica can be admired.
Comfortable
accommodation
By the ski resort of Pyhävuori a terraced house has been built
in 1999 for overnight accommodations of groups. The house has
accommodations for 22 adults and 11 children.
A sauna, a barbeque cottage, a lookout café and a service
building have been built earlier.
In the house there is a lounge/dining room, drying room and a big
terrace. The skiing tracks (also the illuminated ones) start by the
house and it's only 100 m from the slalom slope and the bathing beach.
Slalom
Pyhävuori in Kristiinankaupunki is one of the oldest slalom
slopes in the province. You can choose between two slopes, one is steep
and the other is a good family slope. The height of the slope is 50
meters and the length about 400 m. There are snowboards, slalom skis,
sticks, slalom skiing boots and helmets for hire at the centre. Also
skiing equipment for traditional cross-country skiing can be hired. For
beginners and school groups there is a skiing school with skilled
teachers. The slope has an anchor lift. The ticket office, the hire of
equipment and the skiing school are in the middle of the centre at the
top of Pyhävuori. Pyhävuori is a member of FLAO.
Cross-country skiing
At Pyhävuori there is a many-sided cross-country skiing net.
There are about 5 km illuminated skiing tracks and different track
alternatives, in total about 40 km. The longer tracks to the village of
Dagsmark and Karijoki are very popular. For the smallest ones there is
a track of 1 km. on the stadium. The tracks are suited for both
conditioning and competitions, so there is something for everyone.
During the weekends there are also waxing services at the hire of
equipment. By the tracks there are resting- and campfire places.
Caravan area
The caravans have their own Caravan-park at Pyhävuori. Caravan
travellers with season reservation, weekend reservation or overnight
reservation are welcome. The lounge and the service facilities of the
Länken ski –house can be used by the caravans. At
the resort there is also a sauna. The warm atmosphere and the
possibilities of the area have made it a very popular caravan area.
During the year appointments, social evenings and the celebration of
New Years Eve are organized.
Events
Different events during the year brighten up the area. Due to the
many-sided tracks high-class skiing competitions can be organized at
the resort. A good start of the season is the Wolf Cave race, which is
part of the Nordic Ski Master Cup and is meant for long-distance
skiers. This race is organized in the beginning of February. During the
ski vacation week different happenings are organized in the slalom
slope and a disco.
Program services
There are versatile program services at the resort organized by
Wesander Marketing. Terrain meals in the windshields and in the hut
guarantee unforgettable experiences for both Finnish and foreign
guests. Snow-mobile safaris with complete equipment. Skiing schools for
foreign guests and recreation keep-fit days for enterprises are the
speciality of Raymond Wesander. Also terrain riding and riding courses

Camps and camp schools
Pyhävuori in Kristiinankaupunki offers excellent possibilities
for camps and camp schools. On the resort there is a camping house for
accommodation and lectures. The unique terrain of the area and the Wolf
Cave create opportunities for a successful camp. The services of the
program service enterpriser and the meal services of the scenic
restaurant Lähiluola are available for the guests.
